Little boys, broken bones and birth dates

Today is the first day of February 2013 already!! It was a big day. My cousin had her first baby this morning. People who know me know that I am a tad OCD with numbers. This kid has a pretty cool birthdate. 1/2/1213. I am THAT obsessed that during the middle of my VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section for those not familiar with pregnancy acronyms) when I realised what the date was. So I opted out of the VBAC and chose to finish up with another c-section! 9/9/09 is my child's birthdate! Pretty cool right?

Anyway, today, big day. My little fella had a cast removed from his broken little foot. Yay! He was able to have his first bath in 6 weeks today. We are very happy that he can now keep up with the other kiddies with out fear of hurting it further.

Hooray for bubble baths!! Not so much for mum getting snap happy.

Crochet Along

Recently I have joined Google+ and found several crochet communities. One in particular is called "crochet along". I personally love this concept. I enjoy making new things and really never stray too much from what I know already. Which is silly, right? I'm a beanie girl. Beanies are my thing. But thanks to this community I have found my passion and am ready to extend my skills and may even teach myself knitting.. But not just yet. Baby steps.

Any who, today being the 30th January (well at least it was last time I looked at the clock. Hello 2:02am) I worked my butt off to begin AND complete the January CAL (crochet along). It's called the "calm cowl" I will link you to the pattern on www.ravelry.com tomorrow. But for now here are some pictures of the cowl... And yours truly.

Be kind :-)

Crochet for charity

So I have been hard at work recently creating many crochet squares to donate to HANNAH'S FOUNDATION. The plan is for them to organise as many squares as they can and to sew them into blankets. These wonderful "memory blankets" will be auctioned later in 2013 with all proceeds going to HANNAH'S FOUNDATION.

I have made 11 squares so far. I am aiming for a contribution of 30+ squares. I have found most of my patterns on ravelry. My second favourite website.. Closely following pintrest!

Below are pictures of my squares. I will jump on my laptop tomorrow and add the links to the people who created the pattern. You must give credit where credit is due!

This is your basic granny square.

Same with this one

And this one I am having trouble finding the link to. I am pretty sure it was created by a very talented crochetville member though. And I am equally as sure that I found it on ravelry. Either way I will keep looking and post it when I find it.
